Only now came across this. I have a mandatory re-blog policy for pretty much everything Jacob Weinsten does for FD.

Here’s a drawing of Bill Walton that Jacob did for an issue of Tin House. Seems especially relevant tonight.

One of my favorite basketball pictures I’ve seen in a while. Man, I love the NBA. (via Truehoop: Best playoffs ever?)

The short answer is, with a great deal of hard work and exploring. I always recall the line Samuel L. Jackson’s character utters in ‘Pulp Fiction’: “I’ll walk the earth… meet people… get into adventures. Like Caine from ‘Kung Fu’”. At a certain level that’s my approach and while I’ll admit to experiencing fewer all-action brawls than Caine, I would at least hope that my pictures are better than his.

John Wooden on the difference in success and winning. What an amazing man - feel like I should watch this every single day.

In restaurants he feels responsible to read every word of the menu. He calls the tortillas “little pancakes.” He marvels over this wonderful offering called a western omelet; he thanks the waitress profusely for taking the time to list the ingredients. While he’s eating at a chain steakhouse on the outskirts of a mall parking lot, a guy in a suit comes to the table and asks how dinner is going. Ray wonders politely who he is to be asking … and is flattered to learn he is the manager of the entire place!
Incredible Esquire piece about Ray Towler, wrongfully imprisoned for nearly 29 years, and his wonderful appreciation for all things after finally being acquitted.

Nice to see you again, Doctor. Stick around, won’t you? The league’s better when you’re murderin’ it.
